Yearly sum-up

Nothing like another year in a paragraph since I haven't been on here in that long. One of these days I'm going to get the hang of the consistency with this! Anyway, at the end of our summer here in Wheaton/Chicago we took a job offer with some friends here who had just started up a new company and were planning to expand to Utah in 6 months. We were going to be getting the hang of things here, then heading up the new office 6 months down the road. Well almost a week and a half in, they closed operations. We worked there just long enough to have signed a new lease on our apartment which our complex said they would happily let us out of as soon as we paid 5 of the 6 months the lease was for. Yeah...right! At $1600 a month you people must be out of your minds! Well after a rough few months using up every last penny and then some, we finally found a new job. Scottie's dream job came along at Thanksgiving. He had the final interview the morning we were leaving for Utah to interview, ref some tournaments and visit for the holiday. About an hour or two out of town we got the offer phone call, talked it over for a couple days as we drove,
canceled the Utah interviews and officially accepted the job!
It has been good for Scottie to get the experience he needed to finally break into the field and we are grateful to have had the opportunity. It has also been fun to live in one place for a full year (now a little more!) and make some really good friends etc. We have a semi-established home and although its a bit strange for us nomads, we have enjoyed it for the most part! We are also expecting our second kiddo Feb. 12th
so I suppose the adventure never stops with us, even when our address stays the same long enough to subscribe to magazines and actually get your money's worth! ;)
Here's hoping for a few more posts in the year ahead!

No fun at all...

Dear G,
It has been a rough few months. No, not because you are two. Because you are going to be a big brother
which means your Mama has been sicker than sick and no fun at all. At first you got very frustrated that even though you were being so gentle you still got in trouble for climbing on me. Not to mention I wouldn't come play with you and our daily runs to the park had come to screeching halt. But pretty soon you got things figured out. For the last few weeks if you saw me lying motionless on the couch looking pathetic you would come over an say "Mama belly hurts?" wait for confirmation and then usually follow it up with "we snuggle?"
You truly are the sweetest, most kind hearted little boy I've ever known. On really bad days you would happily play in your room while I slept or spent some quality time on our bathroom floor. And every time you come up, out of the blue to ask me how I'm doing I'm am overwhelmed with how proud I am of you and your concern for others and how much I absolutely love you. You are going to be an amazing big brother
and I am so grateful to have such an incredible little boy to call my own.

Love you Buddy,
Mama
