Dear G,
I feel like every time i turn around you're learning something new! Just this morning your daddy and I were talking about how much joy you have brought us already. You just started grabbing at things and you love kicking at things too. You also just started doing this screeching thing I'm not terribly fond of- hopefully you outgrow that one soon! Every morning I wake up to your squalks and look over the side of the bed at you sitting in your swing and the minute you see me you give me the sweetest grin I've ever seen. What better way to be greeted in the morning? You are such a sweet little boy. You love when we brush a blanket over your face- which usually inspires smiles and laughter all around! The bird song "way up in the sky" is a hit as well as the hokie pokie as i get you in your pajamas. You love the "shake it all about".
Basically, you are one cute and loved little boy.
Love you son!

Sometimes the 3rd time isn't the charm.
Dear Scottie,
This morning, as soon as you got into the shower, I ran and got a cup which I filled with ice water (yes, I did even put ice from the freezer in it) and ran into the bathroom to dump it on you. However, when I got in there I realized there were 2 problems; #1- I was barely tall enough to reach over the shower curtain to dump it on you so you would probably see it coming, #2-our apartment has a big Roman tub and I can't see through our shower curtain to see where you were in the tub. While a bit annoying, these obstacles didn't deter me and I dumped the cup of water and hoped for the best. Well, I missed and you only got a little on your shoulder. On to attempt #2. I ran back into the kitchen and grabbed our smallest mixing bowl and filled it up. SPLASH...nothin. You saw it coming and jumped out of the way. I had had enough of your funny business and was quickly on to attempt #3 (I couldn't be deterred) which meant bringing out the biggest mixing bowl we had. Nope, no luck there either-but you did manage to reach a hand out of the shower and smear soap on my face. That was it! On my trip back to the kitchen I had the thought of all thoughts-the idea of all ideas! Perfect! And just in time since you were about done with your shower. This time you heard me coming and just as you pulled back the shower curtain trying to scare me I squirted the ice cold water bottle from the fridge all over you! You jumped and I laughed...then ran! :) Then once I knew you weren't chasing me I snuck back to the bathroom and and said...truce? :) And you laughed. Then I reminded you about the soap and you agreed. However, I'm smart enough to know I should probably be watching my back for a while because this fun little prank war we have going on could start back up at any moment.
The moral of the story? Sometimes the 3rd time isn't the charm- so just keep at it! :)

Apparently you missed the memo
Dear G,
Apparently you missed the memo that I'm the one in charge around here...or maybe the problem is that all the so-called experts who tell me all the things I have to do to create "perfect behavior" from my nearly 3 month old have never had a child who inherited my "fighter" genes...or maybe they've never been around children at all? Whatever the case may be, after numerous attempts to get you to take a nap and way more crying than I was hoping for (since you were so tired and fighting it so hard) I caved. You have now been sleeping in my arms for over 2 hours. Yes I absolutely love holding you but I'm completely immobile and have been thirsty for the entire 2+ hours. I'm also convinced I'm going to get a cramp in my arm at any moment. Not to mention all the things I had planned to get done while you slept. And years from now when I read this I'm sure I won't believe I let myself do this but I really missed my happy little boy and was sick of fighting with you and you being so grumpy and mad. So, here I sit, chicken pecking words on the keyboard and hoping that when you wake up you will be much more like the happy baby boy I love so much so we can play.
I love you son- even when you're Grouchy McGee

fighter
We've had a bit of a rough morning. You didn't want me to work out today and fought me the whole time. Then REALLY fought me at nap time. Thankfully you're now sound asleep and hopefully going to stay asleep long enough for me to shower and get ready so then we can go out for an adventure. Please cooperate and I promise it will be fun!
Love you son,

poor kid
Dear Scottie-
I think you may need to take a few days off- I think our son is sick of me.
Love you!

Fish, BBQ, Sunshine & You
Dear Scottie,
Summer and I have developed a love/hate relationship. I've always loved the summer- sunshine, swimming, snowcones, catching bigger fish than you, BBQ's- what's not to love? But now that we work in summer sales my summers consist a lot of waiting for you to come home for us to play and far less catching bigger fish than you than I prefer. ;) However, we love the jobs and the chance to move to new places. On the other hand we don't see too much of these new places so that's a bit of a downer. But most of all, these summers are lacking in the thing I enjoy the most- doing fun things with you!!! SO, here's hoping that we can squeeze in enough fun to get me through til the fall where you'll have more time with me than you can handle (I hope).
I love you Sparky and thanks for working so hard.
Oodles & Bunches,

Nap time?...what's that???
Little man,
I spend the majority of each day trying to get you to actually take a nap longer than 10 minutes. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong here because it's not working and that doesn't leave much time for me to get anything else done...or even catch my breath.
Hopefully I'll figure it out soon.
